We're in Refinery 29's latest biz card round up

I'm back in town and am a little late to share this. The story was posted while on vacation in Japan. I'm super pleased to be included once more in Refinery 29's selection of "30 Ultra-Creative Business Cards For A Killer First Impression." With a headline like that, making the cut sort of feels like receiving an award.  Ahem...I'd like to thank my clients for having me print these and my assistant for her helping hand. This wouldn't be possible without you. And thank you Refinery 29!"

We were able to sneak in more than one entry for this slideshow and actually got 5 business cards we did on there. 5 out of 30 cool ones! Now that's a good day at the office!

You'll see cards for:

It's truly flattering to be among some amazing designers and fellow printers in Los Angeles. As small as a business card may be, it's assuring to know that there are still folks out there that appreciate a dang, good business card. Cheers!

Out of a tee shirt and into the Essential Blouse

I'm hanging up the apron for this and there are no inky finger tips on this post. Letterpress and paper aside, I'm so flattered and honored to be a part of this special collaboration. Jessica Comingore is launching the start of her new shop called The Essentials with this lovely blouse made in collaboration with LA fashion designer Jill Yee. I've seen tidbits of the creative process that went into creating this blouse and have even tried on an early prototypes; I can say it's tough creating a beautiful garment. The cut, the flow and feel of the fabric, the finish of the seams and ends have all been refined by Jill and Jessica together to create this essential blouse.

Big thanks for transforming me into a sophisticated and chic woman for an afternoon.  xo

Here's a video of their collaboration by John Liwag

The Essential Blouse is a limited edition collaboration between Jessica Comingore and Jill Aiko Yee, a Los Angeles based fashion designer. The Essential Blouse is just that — a staple for any woman's closet that can be dressed up or down and worn through the seasons. The beauty of this top is in the details, from the alluring scooped back silhouette to the raw edge silk hems that only get better with time. The pre-washed fabric drapes beautifully on the body and is finished with elegant French seams and a surprise contrast seam inside the neckline. It's perfect for pairing with a structured pair of shorts, or tucked loosely into high-waisted trousers. 2014 in watercolor

To kick off the new year, I was so happy to be commissioned to create these calendars. Taskforce, one of favorite cleints to work with, let me let my hair down with this piece. At first, they approached me for a unique gift for about 10 people and then it ended up as 100 custom designed, all letterpress printed and watercolored calendar.

On this special project, we added a wash of neon watercolor over the blind debossed 2014 and even pulled off a gradient pattern. For the letterpress nerds, I had to make crazy layers of packing to pull it off.  I had a trash can full of paper by the time I got it right.

To package it all up, I pressed a custom address area on the front of a kraft mailer and pressed a few notecards for a personal note.

Success and quite the unique gift for the new year.

Cheers!
