Here's another glimpse into another studio through a video made for Wallpaper*. This video shows how their invitation, printed by Baddeley Brothers, was made for their 2012 Handmade event in Milan.
Boxcar Press is the authority in the letterpress world as printers and as suppliers to smaller press shops. In this video, you can see the hands-on care that goes into every print. Boxcar is a huge operation on the east coast with all the machinery to make letterpressing a breeze with multiple fully-automated, windmill Heidelbergs, plate-making machines, heavy duty cutters and the man power.
For now, this video is inspiring showing endless possiblities in a single print. Maybe I should start shopping for a faster machine to give my single-sheet fed Vandercook a break. Something to daydream about.
This is huge!
I can't believe it. Look, Ma!
This was the moment of it all coming to life.
This past fall, I was contacted by Heather at Just Vandy to be a part of her book, The Vandercook 100. The book celebrates 100 years of printing on the Vandercook press and features 100 of today's printers still utilizing the this analog machine to create beautiful prints. The book focuses not only on beautiful letterpressed prints but gives a reader a photo-based look into the process and the work studios of this passionate niche group of crafters.
I am so proud and pleased to annouce that PresshausLA, the youngster of the bunch, made the final cut to be a part of this elite group of printers.
